Three answers decide most of it: whether you play in competitions, how far your longest shot at a flag is, and how hilly your course is. The checker below turns those into a slope answer and a short list, using only the flag ranges the listings print.

Flag ranges come from the Amazon listings we read on September 19, 2026. Where a listing prints no flag range we say so rather than guess. This is a shopping aid, not a rules ruling. Check the terms of each competition you enter.
A worked example
Say you play club competitions on a hilly course, and your longest shot at a green is a 220 yard hybrid. Slope helps you in casual rounds, but it must be off in the club event, so you want a visible switch. Of the listings that print a flag range, Callaway 300 Pro covers 220 yards. The Gogogo GS24 prints 150 yards on a bare flagpole, which is short, and 250 yards when the flag cloth is unfolded. The other 4 picks do not print a flag range at all.
How the checker decides
- Competition: the Rules of Golf allow distance information but not measuring elevation changes. So in competition, any slope model needs its slope off, and a non-slope model is also fine.
- Casual play on a hilly course: the non-slope model drops off the list, since slope is the reason to buy.
- Flag range: we compare your number to the flag lock range printed on the Amazon listing. If none is printed, we say so.
- Glasses: eye relief is how far back your eye can sit and still see the full view. Bushnell prints 16 mm, which it calls extra long, for its newer Tour V7 Shift. None of the six listings we read printed an eye relief figure.
